【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyasalaboratorydiagnostictoolforestimatingthecolloidalstabilityofasphalt,asphaltcrossblends,agedasphalt,pyrolyzedasphalt,andheavyoilresiduum.Historically,asphaltandheavyoilresiduahavebeenmodeledascolloidalsuspensions(8,9)inwhichapolar,associatedasphaltenemoiety(thedispersedphase)issuspendedinamaltenesolventmoiety(thedispersingmedium)(refertotestmethodsD3279,D4124,andD5546forfurtherdefinitionofasphaltfractionmaterials).Theextenttowhichthesetwomoietiesremaininagivenstateofpeptizationisameasureofthecompatibilityofthesuspension.Compatibilityinfluencesimportantphysicalpropertiesofthesematerials,includingrheologicalproperties,forexample,phaseangleandviscosity(10,11).Compatibilityalsoinfluencescokeformationinrefiningprocesses(4).Thistestmethodandothersimilartestmethods(7,12-15),alongwiththeclassicalHeithaustest(1,2),measurestheoverallcompatibilityofacolloidalsystembydeterminingadesignatedparameterreferredtoasthestateofpeptization,P.ThevalueofPcommonlyvariesbetween2.5and10forunmodifiedorneatasphalts.MaterialscalculatedtohavelowvaluesofParedesignatedasincompatible,whereasmaterialscalculatedtohavehighPvaluesaredesignatedascompatible.ValuesofPmaybecalculatedasafunctionoftwootherdesignatedparametersthatrelatetothepeptizabilityoftheasphaltenemoiety(theasphaltenepeptizabilityparameter,pa)andthesolventpowerofthemaltenemoiety(themaltenepeptizingpowerparameter,po).ValuesofpaandpoarecalculatedasfunctionsofthequantitiesCminandFRmax,thevaluesofwhichareobtainedfromthreeexperimentalvariables,theweightofresiduumorasphalt(Wa),thevolumeofsolvent(VS),andthevolumeoftitrantaddeduptotheflocculationpoint(VT).1.1ThistestmethoddescribesaprocedureforquantifyingthreeHeithauscompatibilityparameters(1,2)thatestimatethecolloidalstabilityofasphaltsandasphaltcrossblends(1,2),agedasphalts(3),andpyrolyzedheavyoilresiduaandasphalt(4)usingautomatedHeithaustitrimetryasastabilitydiagnostictool.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
